About Moi
My Name is Brittany, and I'm 23yrs old. I was diagnosed with Lupus when I was 15, and then diagnosed with RA, when I was 18. I also got married when I was 18, and I'm enjoying my happily ever after with my hubby! When I got married, I was slim and trim...But not for long. After getting married, I started to gain a LOT of weight! In 1yr, I gained 50lbs! Finally, I went to the Doctor, where I discovered I have low thyroid. After being put on medicine, my weight gain slowed down, although over the next 3yrs, I gained an additional 26lbs. When I was 20yrs old, I got yet another diagnoses of Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. That's 4 diagnoses in a 5yr period, if you lost count. They all effect my weight, in one way or another. Add on top of that, my love affair with food, and every 1 of those 76lbs gained was accounted for. Being 76lbs over weight is unhealthy for anyone, but it was especially unhealthy for me, and my health issues. Since starting this blog, in Jan-2010, I have lost 40lbs! I'm a new, slimmer, and healthier me! Before losing weight, I was told I needed knee replacements. Losing weight was the ONLY tool I had to help me hold off on that life changing surgery. Since losing 40lbs, my knees have never felt better! My husband and I are also trying to start a family, but my PCOS was not going to make it as easy as 1,2,3, as I didn't have periods on my own. My doctor had told me if I wanted a baby, I HAD to lose weight. Since losing 40lbs, I've had regular cycles for the first time in my life! Which is very important when trying to have a baby ;) This journey of mine is more than me simply wanting to wear skinny jeans. It has been a quest to becoming :Deliciously Healthy, so ALL of my dreams can come true! I'm almost half way there! With each new day, I get closer and closer to my goal of 120lbs, and becoming :Deliciously Healthy!

ADDICTED- Diet Dr. Pepper

I've been doing pretty well on the diet front these past few days. (Yay me!) Today's weigh in had me down 1 pound, putting me back at 167. It would have been nice to finally be past 167, but at least I lost the weight I had put on during my diet funk.
Brittany does in fact have her groove back...

With one small exception....

This week, I've been having a full on love affair with the Doctor.
Diet Dr. Pepper that is...
I know, it's bad. It's unhealthy, and it's a forbidden love.
But what can I say?
"I'm A Pepper"I always have been...
It's just so darn good!

But this seriously has to stop.
I've had more diet Dr. Pepper this week then I'd like to admit.

I need an intervention.

Any words of advice?
Do you have a guilty diet pleasure?

I make a deal with myself. I make myself drink 64 oz of PURE water. After the pure water I can drink cystal light, diet soda, etc. Usually, after 64 oz of water I am not craving the other as much! Try it...maybe it will work for you too!

My advice? Add some lime to it. That is our favorite!!

Oh wait, you wanted advice to STOP drinking it......

Sorry, I love it! I am proud of myself for drinking it...better than the 4-5 cans of real coke I was drinking a day I guess? :)

The tough part is not buying it. If you can find a way to not pick it up when you're in the store, then you won't be able to reach for it when you're at home.

I like Jessica's idea about loading up on water before drinking any DP :)

Well you certainly are A Pepper!

Not sure I can help with this one other than to suggest to purge it from your home. If it is not there you cannot go Pepper as often.

Not going to try and tell you there is a substitute for your passion; water, other beverages are just that, other drinks.

My guilty pleasure is dark chocolate. It is a heart healthy food actually, but in small amounts. Eating just one small square of it is so hard. I've been strong and only have a piece or two a week. The old me would have a whole bar daily.

I used to be so addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper! A lot of stores sell flavored seltzer waters that have all-natural ingredients and no sodium. I drink those all the time now when I have a craving for soda, and I don't really miss diet drinks!

My guilty pleasure is probably chips and dip. I could eat a whole bowl by myself!

Go cold turkey, girl. It's the only way - if you can go two weeks TOTALLY without it, you'll lose your taste for it!

Yeah...I am not the person to ask about how to stop drinking diet soda. I mean really...you gotta have something you love...right?!?! I Diet dr. pepper or a cheeseburger? See...one is better...in comparison :)

I kind of agree with Corlette with the cheeseburger comparison (=

I do understand how it can be difficult but it may be best not to buy it, and when you have a special treat day buy one can of it and not a 2 liter.

You do make a cute pepper (adorable picture of you), good luck girl!

First off, super cute picture of you :) Secondly, I have been trying to cut out soda too and end having one in the morning or afternoon if I need a quick eye opener and also with my dinner if we don't have any tea made. It's not good for me and I want to quit, but I can't just yet. PS - Diet Dr. Pepper rocks my socks!

I love Diet Dr. Pepper! I have one diet drink a day which I don't think is unreasonable as long as I drink water as well. One thing I've tried is the Arizona diet green tea which is nothing more than green tea and Splenda. I had a trainer tell me it it wasn't nearly as bad as a diet soda.

Also, I make a pitcher of "fancy water" and put it in the fridge to use over a few days. Just throw some lemons limes and/or oranges in it and it tastes great...like you're at a spa :)

I quit for about 1 month, and now I have a diet coke every friday night while we eat pizza.

I thought I would feel much different without all the chemicals, but I felt exactly the same. I still had to talk myself out of it though once in a while.

It isn't good for anyone, so drinking more water is MUCH better!
