About Moi
My Name is Brittany, and I'm 23yrs old. I was diagnosed with Lupus when I was 15, and then diagnosed with RA, when I was 18. I also got married when I was 18, and I'm enjoying my happily ever after with my hubby! When I got married, I was slim and trim...But not for long. After getting married, I started to gain a LOT of weight! In 1yr, I gained 50lbs! Finally, I went to the Doctor, where I discovered I have low thyroid. After being put on medicine, my weight gain slowed down, although over the next 3yrs, I gained an additional 26lbs. When I was 20yrs old, I got yet another diagnoses of Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. That's 4 diagnoses in a 5yr period, if you lost count. They all effect my weight, in one way or another. Add on top of that, my love affair with food, and every 1 of those 76lbs gained was accounted for. Being 76lbs over weight is unhealthy for anyone, but it was especially unhealthy for me, and my health issues. Since starting this blog, in Jan-2010, I have lost 40lbs! I'm a new, slimmer, and healthier me! Before losing weight, I was told I needed knee replacements. Losing weight was the ONLY tool I had to help me hold off on that life changing surgery. Since losing 40lbs, my knees have never felt better! My husband and I are also trying to start a family, but my PCOS was not going to make it as easy as 1,2,3, as I didn't have periods on my own. My doctor had told me if I wanted a baby, I HAD to lose weight. Since losing 40lbs, I've had regular cycles for the first time in my life! Which is very important when trying to have a baby ;) This journey of mine is more than me simply wanting to wear skinny jeans. It has been a quest to becoming :Deliciously Healthy, so ALL of my dreams can come true! I'm almost half way there! With each new day, I get closer and closer to my goal of 120lbs, and becoming :Deliciously Healthy!

I Heart Chocolate Milk

Before going on a diet, I would drink a tall glass of chocolate milk each and every night before bed.

I knew that was one of the things I was going to have to cut out if I wanted to lose weight. I hadn't had a single glass of chocolate milk, since January.

Then, I read on a blog that chocolate milk was actually good for you.

I suddenly remembered how much I love chocolate milk.

Why the heck am I living without it? Certainly a small glass of chocolate milk can be worked into my Deliciously Healthy lifestyle, every now and then.

Life is too short to deprive myself of this
chocolaty goodness.Only this time I used 1 1/2 cups low fat milk, and 1 TBS chocolate syrup (50 cal.).

***

This morning's weigh in had me at 165.
That's a 2 pound loss this week!

Thank you
so much for all your sweet comments on my last post!

Girl, i LOVE chocolate milk. And i always made it w/ the hershey syrup until i met my husband who makes THE best chocolate milk. Listen carefully... HAHA.

Fill your glass 1/4 full w/ heavy whipping cream & the rest of the way with milk. Skim is fine. Then add 3-4 heaping spoonfuls of OVALTINE (not the malt kind. Ew! i think it's just called "rich chocolate"). Stir. Put in freezer for 20 minutes. OHMYGOSH. It won't freeze. Just get SUPER cold. And i guess you can skip the whipping cream. That's the only "bad" part of it. Ovaltine is good for you!

YAY chocolate milk!

Congrats on your loss!!! I wish I was seeing 2 pounds a week off me. We are almost exactly the same weight now! What's your goal?

Congratulations on the loss!

Having a few tasty treats keep us sane. If we were always on the straight and narrow, life would be very boring :)

Dawne- Thank you! My goal is 120, which is what I was when I get married.

I use to convince my mom it was ok for me to have chocolate milk after school because I read a study that said kids who drank chocolate milk tended to have less cavities because they drank chocolate milk instead of soda. :) I love a little glass now and again too. Congrats on the loss.

I provide services to the mentally challenged and took one of my clients to a nutritionist for her diabetes. Nutritionist told her if was fine to have a daily glass of low fat chocolate milk; she loves it and was happy to hear that! I am not a big sweets lover but give me chocolate any day!

Woo hoo, way to go on that 2 pound loss! Great job!!
What would life be without a little chocolate now and then? I think it's so important for us to find how we can fit in those treats that mean a lot to us or else we'll got off the deep end (nutritionally speaking).
Congrats on a great week!!
