About Moi
My Name is Brittany, and I'm 23yrs old. I was diagnosed with Lupus when I was 15, and then diagnosed with RA, when I was 18. I also got married when I was 18, and I'm enjoying my happily ever after with my hubby! When I got married, I was slim and trim...But not for long. After getting married, I started to gain a LOT of weight! In 1yr, I gained 50lbs! Finally, I went to the Doctor, where I discovered I have low thyroid. After being put on medicine, my weight gain slowed down, although over the next 3yrs, I gained an additional 26lbs. When I was 20yrs old, I got yet another diagnoses of Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. That's 4 diagnoses in a 5yr period, if you lost count. They all effect my weight, in one way or another. Add on top of that, my love affair with food, and every 1 of those 76lbs gained was accounted for. Being 76lbs over weight is unhealthy for anyone, but it was especially unhealthy for me, and my health issues. Since starting this blog, in Jan-2010, I have lost 40lbs! I'm a new, slimmer, and healthier me! Before losing weight, I was told I needed knee replacements. Losing weight was the ONLY tool I had to help me hold off on that life changing surgery. Since losing 40lbs, my knees have never felt better! My husband and I are also trying to start a family, but my PCOS was not going to make it as easy as 1,2,3, as I didn't have periods on my own. My doctor had told me if I wanted a baby, I HAD to lose weight. Since losing 40lbs, I've had regular cycles for the first time in my life! Which is very important when trying to have a baby ;) This journey of mine is more than me simply wanting to wear skinny jeans. It has been a quest to becoming :Deliciously Healthy, so ALL of my dreams can come true! I'm almost half way there! With each new day, I get closer and closer to my goal of 120lbs, and becoming :Deliciously Healthy!

17 day diet- Cycle 1, day 1: Weigh-in day

Day 1- Starting weight: 190.4Oy.

Today was a stressful day. All day I wanted to turn to food, so I could have a little happy moment between me, and some cheesy pasta. Every time I struggled today, this one phrase kept coming to my mind, "Eat what you've always eaten, and you'll weigh what you've always weighed" That kept me on track. If I want my body to shrink to a size 6, I have to change what I've been doing for the past couple months. And it's not going to be easy. But I know I can do it.

I just had one little hiccup. My husband, in an attempt to cheer me up, got me something I didn't even know existed: They're called double oreo's. It's a regular oreo, stuck to a chocolate stuffed oreo... two oreo's in one! I stood there for like an hour, trying to figure out what I was going to do. Eat the whole box, or walk away? But once again, this played in my mind, "Eat what you've always eaten, and you'll weigh what you've always weighed" So what did I decide? I had 1 oreo cookie, and then walked away. No, oreo's do not go along with the 17 day diet, but hey- I only had one, when I wanted to inhale them all in 10 seconds flat. So I consider that a success.

I'm going to bed, with a stressful, yet successful day behind me.
That feels good.

A very successful day indeed. I love your quote. I need it to pop into my mind every time I reach for something I shouldn't be eating. Good Luck!

OMG talk to that man LOL. My dad used to bring home candy bars for mom- he thought he was being nice but she was overweight and trying to lose. I am trying to plan like you and eat mainly greens and a little protein besides the kefir once or twice a day. I made tuna fish salad yesterday with 2 cans of drained tuna in water, lots of onions and celery and just a little olive oil mayo. It was good ans served as my salad dressing. There are some good message boards for the 17 day diet too. Good luck!

Good luck! I know two ppl who have done this diet....and they lost considerable amount of weight in a short period of time. Transitioning to the second phase was difficult for both of them though...so beware. Good luck though!! Looking forward to following your progress.

That sounds like something my hubby would do! Good on you for having one and walking away.

Lady, I'm really proud of you for eating just one! Quite honestly, I'm at the point where I need to throw my packet of Oreos out. Nothing good can come from them.

I would SO have devoured all those cookies. LOL. Well, according to my blog, today I really would have! Ugh. Great job for trying one (so the demon cookies would leave you alone) and leaving the rest behind. Woohoo!

I love that mantra! I think I'm going to use it in my weak moments, too. Hope today is going well!!
