About Moi
My Name is Brittany, and I'm 23yrs old. I was diagnosed with Lupus when I was 15, and then diagnosed with RA, when I was 18. I also got married when I was 18, and I'm enjoying my happily ever after with my hubby! When I got married, I was slim and trim...But not for long. After getting married, I started to gain a LOT of weight! In 1yr, I gained 50lbs! Finally, I went to the Doctor, where I discovered I have low thyroid. After being put on medicine, my weight gain slowed down, although over the next 3yrs, I gained an additional 26lbs. When I was 20yrs old, I got yet another diagnoses of Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. That's 4 diagnoses in a 5yr period, if you lost count. They all effect my weight, in one way or another. Add on top of that, my love affair with food, and every 1 of those 76lbs gained was accounted for. Being 76lbs over weight is unhealthy for anyone, but it was especially unhealthy for me, and my health issues. Since starting this blog, in Jan-2010, I have lost 40lbs! I'm a new, slimmer, and healthier me! Before losing weight, I was told I needed knee replacements. Losing weight was the ONLY tool I had to help me hold off on that life changing surgery. Since losing 40lbs, my knees have never felt better! My husband and I are also trying to start a family, but my PCOS was not going to make it as easy as 1,2,3, as I didn't have periods on my own. My doctor had told me if I wanted a baby, I HAD to lose weight. Since losing 40lbs, I've had regular cycles for the first time in my life! Which is very important when trying to have a baby ;) This journey of mine is more than me simply wanting to wear skinny jeans. It has been a quest to becoming :Deliciously Healthy, so ALL of my dreams can come true! I'm almost half way there! With each new day, I get closer and closer to my goal of 120lbs, and becoming :Deliciously Healthy!

California, Cheeseburgers, and our new puppy!

I thought it had just been a few days since my last post, but it's been over a week! Yikes!

My husband recently got a new job, where he's traveling a lot. Last week, he was in California. I grew up in CA, and hadn't been back in 5 years! So, I decided to take a last minute trip, and tagged along with him! It was lots of fun, and I'm very grateful I got to go!
It also meant I got to spend my hubby's birthday with him!
(b-day dinner at Rain Forest Cafe)
There was lots of food temptation in CA! I wanted to eat all the food I grew up on, like In-N-Out!And I did.
I feel like I got back handed by a cheeseburger
.
Truth of the matter is, I didn't exercise moderation while I was in CA. I went a little over bored on all the good food CA has to offer. I came home a little dumbfounded. I thought I had more control then that. I thought I had learned how to have a balanced life. I guess I still have a lot to learn...
Aside from the calories, isn't this the cutest caramel apple?
I gained 6 pounds during my stay in CA. Yikes!!
But 6 pounds isn't going to get me down. I've learned a lot from this experience. Like to never let my guard down. I'm going to move on, with my head held high. It's not the end of the world, and I will reach my goal!!

Besides being on vacation, there's another little thing that's been soaking up all my time...

Meet Moxie:Our new little puppy!
We now have 3 dogs! :
Kisses, a lab mix: Thumbalina, a Carin terrier, Poodle mix: and Moxie, a Pomeranian, Yorkie mix:House training is brutal, but we love her, and all of her puppy kisses!
Aren't puppy kisses one of the sweetest things in life?

Isn't it just insane how easy it is to gain and what a pain in the butt it is when it comes time to lose?

Your family is just adorable! Congrats on the newest addition!

I just started following your blog about a week or two ago, but I have to say you're such an inspiration when it comes to losing weight + being positive when things don't quite go the way you expected.
Good luck with everything & I look forward to reading more blogs from you in the future.

Also all your puppies are too cute =]

I missed you but glad you had a nice time. I got to travel a bit with my husband when we were first married too and it was fun! I know you understand about my gaining on a cruise LOL but I bet in your case, the gain will come off pretty fast. Believe me, the older you are the slower your metabolism is and the harder it is to lose weight! Your doggies are cute- at one time I had 2 cats and 2 dogs but now I'm down to just one 14 year old German shepherd mix but I have a grand-daughter dog and grandnephew dog I watch occasionally! Who watched yours when you left? I can't kennel mine- he goes nuts.

Moxie is the sweetest little thing!!! Hey, I'm glad to hear that 6 pounds didn't get you down. I've gotta get that attitude. Seeing the same weight on that dang scale is about to be the death of me...not really, but you know what I'm saying :)

I have a body that gains when I eat food with no restrictions. I don't know why. I mean, techincally I tell myself a weekend of eating like you did in CA shouldn't do too much damage, if it's a once off and then I go back to my plan. But I'd have had the same result too. Sometimes it bothers me that I can't eat like my frends do without paying for it, but yanno what, life is for the living, you're not in CA all the time and good for you! It's perspective and balance and we all NEED little blowouts like this to stay sane. (I had over 6 shots of Vodka over the weekend for my birthday ;) )

Wow! Love your site! My girlfriends told me about you and I think this could really help. You are an inspiration to people like me everywhere.... By following a strict diet and switching back and forth between weights and my elliptical trainer and following a strict diet, I have lost 30 pounds, but I would love to lose more!! thank you

Moxie is adorable!!! Your other pooch is a cutie too!
I try not to worry too much if I gain as a result of a special event, vacation, etc.. But after going a little too nuts before, I remind myself to have a few splurges, but to make good choices too. You've done so great, I'm sure next week will prove to be a great one for you!!
